IF attended last week at the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. The event was organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy and the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).
There IF had the opportunity to attend the policy conference and various sessions and exchange opinions and views with industry representatives and policymakers, EU project partners, and entrepreneurs on issues related to independence, security, recovery and growth through renewables, hydrogen, and energy efficiency.
Some very high-level key takings from these three days in Brussels:
There is a need to pace faster with RES in the energy mix.
Storage is a key factor to realize the potential of RES in the energy mix.
Energy-efficient solutions and materials will help to decarbonize the building stock in Europe.
A lack of skilled personnel slows down the process.
Hydrogen is a key enabler for a carbon-free economy, but we need to make a start from the sectors that already are heavy users of it, like the fertilizer industry.
Finally, for a Hydrogen economy to succeed we need to bring Hydrogen close to industries, which are located in areas underserved by the existing pipeline system.
IF brings your ideas forward!
